Monty has been a resident of lebanon his entire life. He spent his early years playing baseball, golf and racquetball as well as fishing and hunting. His hobbies now are mainly fishing and hunting occasionally as well as weekly cornhole tournaments.
He began working at the age of 14 at the local grocery store until he was 19. He worked for 12 years at Entek as an operator and 9 years at the Halsey paper mill as an operator. He got his first taste of treatment working in secondary fiber department and it was something that if he had the chance to do professionally, he would pursue.
In 2015, the paper mill had a layoff and moved him to another department or allowed him to take advantage of the layoff and pursue the WET program at LBCC under the Trade Act. With the support of his wife and daughter, he graduated in 2017 and had his first job working a small conventional plant in Sweet Home for the next 1 ½ years. He moved on to working an SBR plant in Stayton for another 1 ½ years then to The City of Lebanon as an operator and later, the Lead operator and AIC(acting in charge) for last 3 months.
He is looking forward to having a long career with Team OAWU.
