WATER TREATMENT PROCESSING SPECIALIST– Essential Duties
- Operate and monitor the District’s 30 mgd drinking water treatment plant, its systems and equipment in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Maintain plant equipment to service levels by performing a variety of technical and mechanical duties, following prescribed guidelines.
- Collect samples; and record operational data and report test results to regulatory agencies.
- Follow all relevant safety standards and procedures.
- Available to perform On-call, stand-by duty in emergencies and work alternate, swing or graveyard shifts.
- Perform and troubleshoot preventative and corrective maintenance of the water treatment plant, pump stations, reservoirs, and related facilities.
- Assist certified, in-house water quality laboratory by performing chemical and biological analysis and preparing and performing quality control of liquid and solid media and reagents.
- Perform lab testing and maintenance procedures, as needed. Acts as a backup to the Water Quality Technician.
Minimum Qualifications:
HS diploma or GED, 2 yrs. college courses (at least 60 credit hrs.) in water technology, biology, environmental science or related field; 3-year operational experience and, possess a OHA WTO Level 2 certification with the ability to obtain, an OHA WTO Level 3 certification within 2 years of hire; knowledge of regulations for water treatment systems and ability to use water-related software applications i.e., SCADA; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that meets position requirements. Strong preference for candidates who possess a WTO Level 3 or higher experience with treatment plant equipment and instrumentation maintenance and experience in microbiological lab testing for coliform bacteria. Meet physical standards for wearing respiratory protection equipment and have a valid driver’s license is required.
Salary range: $ 31.91 – 41.19/hr. (WTPS) (DOQ – non-exempt, represented)
