Provides leadership and direction for the City’s Class IV Water Treatment Plant operations, maintenance, personnel management, and capital improvement; treatment plant is a member of the Partnership for Safe Water and state-recognized Outstanding Performer. Evaluates plant operations and process control to maintain plant efficiency, compliance with drinking water standards and delivery of adequate water volumes, and files reports as may be assigned. Manages operations within an ORELAP-certified water microbiology laboratory and The Dalles Municipal Watershed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Duties are performed throughout the Water Treatment Plant and Watershed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with all necessary personal protective equipment provided by the City. Travel to meetings and training both in and outside of the City may be required.
This position is emergency essential requiring response in under 30 minutes.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job will be considered.
Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION: Minimum of a four-year college degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering, or an environmentally related field.
EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years of water treatment operations experience in Class III or higher water treatment plant. At least three (3) years of supervisory experience is desired.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES:
A valid Driver’s License is required. Ability to obtain Oregon Class IV Water Treatment Certification and Filtration Endorsement within one year.
Wage and Benefits: $90,405.71 to $111,187.62 annually with new hires typically starting in the range of $90,405.71 to $95,911.41 depending on qualifications. The City pays 100% of employee premiums for Medical, Dental and Vision and 85% for dependents. The City also provides $10,000 life/AD&D for the employee, as well as a robust Employee Assistance Plan. Both medical plans are low deductible.
