WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM OPERATOR

The District is seeking a hard-working candidate with good analytical skills to be part of a specialized and dynamic team to serve the public. This important position is critical to maintaining and supporting local public health and environmental standards. Under the direction of the Wastewater Collection System Supervisor and the Collection System Lead. The successful candidate will perform a variety of skilled labor in the maintenance, operation, and repair of the district’s wastewater collection system, associated facilities, and equipment. Ensure that the wastewater collection system is operating efficiently. The position requires performing basic mathematics, using appropriate safety procedures. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other staff within the district. Applies modern wastewater collection principles, practices, methods, techniques, and procedures. Operating Class B vehicles, heavy equipment, sewer cleaning and televising equipment, and responds to various emergencies throughout the district’s infrastructure including afterhours and weekends and holidays.
Minimum qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and a valid class C driver’s license, Oregon Class B Commercial Driver’s License Permit with air brake & tank endorsement within 3 months of hire, Oregon Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake & tank endorsement within 6 months of hire, Oregon Wastewater Collections System Operator Certification Grade I within 24 months of hire, completed training in Cave-in Protection (competent person), Confined Space possession of First Aid and Flagging certifications within 12 months of hire. Ability to perform basic mathematics. Proficient in Microsoft 365 programs or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications: Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) coding certification through NASSCO. 1 years’ experience working on a wastewater collection crew; Formal training in Asset Management methodologies including geographical information systems (GIS)
This is a safety sensitive position; successful candidate must pass a reference check, criminal background screen, and pre-employment drug screen.
Compensation: As of July 1, 2024: $44,304-$58,801 Annually depending on experience and certifications. Additional compensation opportunities are available after earning Grade II & III certifications ranging from $1.07 – 3.86 per hour.
