GENERAL STATEMENT
This position is a member of a team responsible for monitoring, operating and maintaining the City’s (WTS) Water Treatment System (well field, treatment plant, booster station, reservoirs and springs) and/or (WWTS) Wastewater Treatment System (remote pump stations, composter and treatment plant) (WWTS). This is an entry-level position with expected progress toward, and eventual achievement of, a Treatment System Operator II position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent.
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training or education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential job duties and responsibilities may be considered.
Special Requirements:
Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record, Oregon CDL preferred.
Ability to wear hazard appropriate personal protective equipment.
Selected candidate will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment physical which includes drug screening, and successfully pass the City of Newberg Fit for Duty Testing; job related tests as may be required.
Must successfully pass a criminal history background check and the record must be clear of any criminal convictions for crimes which would preclude the individual from performing the essential job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to pass the department’s security clearance standards for unescorted access to certain City facilities.
This position is considered a “First Responder” which may be considered essential personnel. This means that in the event City offices close due to inclement weather, etc., you are still required to report to work for your scheduled shift, as well as any overtime or extra hours required.
This position is subject to a rotating “on-call” schedule and weekend shifts after training has been completed.
