System Operator

Salary Range: $6,174 – $7,158

System Operator Description – City of Garibaldi

The City of Garibaldi is accepting applications for a System Operator position within the Public Works Department.

This is a non-union position working a minimum of 32 hours per week. When assigned to on-call duty, the System Operator will work 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required only as emergencies arise.

The System Operator performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled, equipment operation, maintenance, and operational duties related to City facilities, including water, wastewater, streets, stormwater, and public works infrastructure.

Minimum Certification Requirements

Applicants must possess and maintain current certification in either the wastewater or water discipline, or both if qualified:

Wastewater Qualification: Wastewater Treatment Level III and Wastewater Collection Level II certification.

Water Qualification: Water Treatment Level I, Water Distribution Level I, and Cross-Connection Specialist certification.

Applicants who hold both water and wastewater certifications are encouraged to apply.

Additional Qualifications

Additional preferred qualifications include municipal public works experience, equipment operation experience, and a valid Oregon Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements.
