Different types of water filtration plants that are used in the water industry will be discussed in depth as well as proper operations of those filters focusing specifically on the math required to run Conventional and Direct Water Filtration plants. The math required to install, bring into service, and operate the Distribution systems served by these Water Filtration Plants will also be discussed.

Leak Detection

Description: This course is designed to provide you with some basic knowledge of leak detection practices and correlation methods. Students will be instructed in the basics and background theory of leak detection to better utilize basic correlation techniques for distribution and collection systems. Participants will learn various methods available to identify and find leaks. A variety of equipment will be demonstrated and used to aid students in accurately pinpointing leaks in all types of pipe materials.

Water & Wastewater Emergency Response Planning @ Polk County Fairgrounds - Building B8:00 am – 12:15 pm

Description: This class will cover multiple aspects of emergency response starting with the requirements for all water and wastewater utilities to have an Emergency Response Plan (ERP). It will then delve into how to plan for emergency drinking water supplies in the event of a regional disaster and how-to equant yourself with EPA’s Response Protocol Toolbox to be better prepared. The second half of the class will focus more on how to build resiliency for drought, flood, earthquake, and natural cover fire and the class will end with a discussion about ORWARN and categorizing and cataloging resources and personnel.

Description: This class will be a real-world discussion utilizing a diagram of an actual water treatment facility to give attendees the knowledge necessary to test for their level 3 and 4 Water Treatment and Distribution Certification as well as their Filter Endorsement. Different types of water filtration plants that are used in the water industry will be discussed in depth as well as proper operations of those filters focusing specifically on the math required to run Conventional and Direct Water Filtration plants. The math required to install, bring into service, and operate the Distribution systems served by these Water Filtration Plants will also be discussed.
