If you answered yes, then the City of Sheridan has an exciting opportunity for you! The City of Sheridan Water facility is composed of a surface water treatment plant, an impoundment facility with eight miles of transmission line, and ground water. There are four reservoirs with a total storage capacity of approximately 4 million gallons. There are approximately 17 miles of distribution lines, with 1,550 water connections. The Water Treatment Plant Operator performs technical duties associated with the operation and maintenance of the City’s Level II water treatment plant and related facilities. The Water Treatment Plant Operator assists with ensuring the compliance of the treatment plant with regulatory agency requirements and water quality standards. •High School Diploma or GED.
•Oregon Water Treatment Operator Level I Certification with the ability to acquire Level II Water Treatment within two years from date of hire.
•Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
•CDL with Class A and Tanker Endorsements preferred, must be obtained and maintained within two years of hire.
•One-year general maintenance, repair, paving, or construction experience in street right-of-way, street maintenance, public works facilities, utility systems, and public improvement.
•Preference will be given for the completion of 60 semester credit hours (or equivalent quarter units) from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in water/wastewater technology, biology, chemistry, microbiology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
Salary & Benefits:
The salary range for this position starts at $23.29 per hour to $26.97 per hour depending on certification level and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position is not eligible for remote work. The City provides excellent health benefits and vacation, holiday, sick and personal leave days. The Water Treatment Plant Operator is a Union-represented employee after a six-month probationary period. 100% employer paid retirement plan, Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).
•Work hours are flexible (within normal business hours) with either a five 8-hour per day work week or a four 10-hour per day work week.
•This position is considered a “First Responder” which may be considered essential personnel. This means that in the event City offices close due to inclement weather, etc., you are still required to report to work for your scheduled shift, as well as any overtime or extra hours required.
•This position is subject to a rotating “stand-by” weekend and holiday schedule after training has been completed.
•During stand-by duty period, must be available to respond within 45 minutes.
•In emergencies, may be called into work and work schedule will be adjusted during the emergency.
•Overtime may be required.
