The Water Treatment Operator will operate treatment plant equipment to monitor and maintain the plant and control its processes by performing the following:
- Addition of coagulants to a direct-filtration water treatment process and chlorine for disinfection.
- Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges
- Calibrate analyzers used to monitor plant processes.
- Collect and test water samples. Record operational data, document and report test results to regulatory agencies
- Inspect equipment on a regular basis; clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas
- Follow EPA regulations and ensure safety standards are met
- Ability to frequently work swing or graveyard shifts
HS diploma supplemented with a Water Treatment Operator (WTO) Level 1 or higher with Filtration Endorsement from the State of Oregon, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position. Aptitude to troubleshoot and problem solve using logical thinking using SCADA systems and other related computer applications . This position requires knowledge and experience of regulations related to municipal water treatment systems. Preference will be given to candidates with a Water Treatment Operation Level 2 or higher, and a commitment to improving knowledge and skills in water treatment plant production. This position is safety-sensitive: you must be able to meet physical standards for wearing respiratory protection equipment based on passing a specialized physical exam prior to hire date and maintain respirator certification. A valid driver’s license is also required.
Salary range: $ 23.93 – $ 30.88 (DOE – non-exempt, represented)
