Water Quality Supervisor

City of Astoria

SUMMARY
The Water Quality Supervisor for the City of Astoria is responsible for oversight and monitoring of the City’s Water Quality procedures, water storage, treatment and distribution facilities in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Regular duties include the taking, analysis and recording of samples and readings, making recommendations to ensure compliance with associated rules and regulations and supervision of assigned staff.

SCHEDULE
The regular schedule for this position is full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM and will be subject to 24-hour call out, 7 days a week in the event of water emergencies.

KEY QUALITIES

  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to public water systems, water system operation and the dynamics of water pressure and flow.
  • Knowledge of lab procedures and practices including techniques involved in collecting water samples and performing applicable analysis.
  • Knowledge of occupational and safety precautions association with water quality operations.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe and using online resources.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

PAY
$27.78-33.77 per hour. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
2.5% pay premium for Water Distribution when assigned as Direct Responsible Charge (DRC)

The anticipated start date for this position is January 2023 to allow time to complete the hiring and selection process around the busy holiday season.
