Pay: Starting $22.00 – 22.74 Hourly (DOQ&E), plus benefits
Status: Full-time; 40 hours per week

Background
City of La Pine is Oregon’s newest city incorporated in late-2006. The City is located in Deschutes County, Oregon, south of Bend and Sunriver. La Pine is a rural community nestled along the Little Deschutes River, surrounded by the Deschutes National Forest, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, and countless Cascade Lakes. With a population of approximately 2,700 inside the City and over 20,000 residents nearby, La Pine has significant commercial and industrial activity. The City provides sewer, water, public works, finance, planning, economic development, and code enforcement services.

Position Description and Qualifications (general)
The City is accepting applications for (1) full-time utility worker I to provide support to the city public works department, public works manager, and other management personnel. The primary responsibility of this position involves performing a variety of public works maintenance with the City’s infrastructures such as, drinking water system, wastewater treatment and collection system, facilities, roads, right of way, storm drainage, sidewalks and street lighting. A significant area of work will be in the sewer and water portions of the public works department that includes turn on and shut off notices to customers, meter reading and general duties associated with a municipal utility.

The position requirements and qualifications include the following:

Utility Worker I
• Associate’s degree, high school diploma (GED) or equivalent.
• Ability to achieve State of Oregon Water Distribution 1 Certificate, Wastewater Treatment 1, and Wastewater Collections 1. Achieve (1) of these certifications within 18 months
• Valid and current Oregon Driver’s License
• Ability to obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with tankers endorsement within 12 months
• Driving record acceptable to City and its insurer
