Oceanside Water District

Salary:  $60,000 – $75,000

Situated in northwest Oregon, along the beautiful Oregon Coast, the Oceanside Water District is located within Tillamook County. The region is home to spectacular natural attractions, ranging from lush, magnificent rainforests, to rugged mountains and wide ocean beaches. The region is full of beautiful views and places to explore, offering its residents and a large number of yearly visitors four seasons filled with adventure. The water district provides service for the communities of both Oceanside and Cape Meares which together total around 850 service connections. Oceanside and Cape Meares are smaller bedroom communities, each with populations of fewer than 500 residents, and in a secluded hillside setting with ocean views and a variety of easy access points to the oceanfront.

The Oceanside Water District is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners serving overlapping four-year terms, with two from Cape Meares and three from Oceanside. The district is operated utilizing three full-time and one part-time employees. The district is searching for a dependable, responsible contributor, committed to professionalism, excellence, and success. This is a hands-on position that requires the physical ability to work in the field installing and repairing distribution systems, as well as operating and maintaining two highly automated processing plants. It will require managing a two-person operational staff to repair water leaks and install new service connections, as well as regular maintenance on both the treatment facilities and distribution system which includes two ultrafiltration membrane treatment plants, three pump stations, five water storage reservoirs, and the associated conveyance pipelines for these systems.

Minimum Qualifications: • Level 2 Water Treatment Certification • Level 1 Distribution Certification • Five years of experience in a supervisory capacity • Must reside within 30 minutes driving distance from the two operating plants. Preferred Qualifications: • Five years of experience operating a membrane-based water treatment facility. Special consideration for experience with WesTech ultrafiltration systems. • Two years of experience in distribution, including hands-on execution of water quality testing and reporting, installation, maintenance and repair of pipes and valves and other equipment involved in the distribution of public drinking water. • Experience with budget and project planning. • Good computer skills in basic systems such as Word and Excel, as well as familiarity with factory automation and control systems. • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with staff, consumers, regulatory agencies and vendors.
