The Position: Responsible for administration, operation, maintenance, and technical work in directing the operations of city collection system, step systems, as well as our activated sludge secondary wastewater treatment plant. Exercise direct authority over all plant functions and personnel in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Inspects systems regularly. Analyzes and evaluates operation and maintenance functions; initiates or recommends new or improved practices. Develops plans and procedures to ensure efficient plant operation and overall responsibility for staying in compliance with state and federal permitting. Works under the direction of the City Manager who outlines broad objectives and some specific work activities. Provides direct supervision for all wastewater treatment employees.
Working Conditions: This is a regular full-time position. Actual days and hours of work shall be situation dependent upon daily wastewater operations. The majority of work duties will be done at the city wastewater treatment plant, as well as throughout the wastewater collection system. Minimum Requirements: Must acquire or possess a valid Oregon State Grade III Operator’s certificate, a Collections Grade II certificate and have at least five years experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Carefully review job description for additional job requirements.
The City: Lakeside is a progressing tourism and recreation community, possessing Oregon’s top bass fishing lakes: North and South Ten Mile Lakes. The city is a small municipality of 1,735 citizens year around, and an estimated 4,000 residents in the summer months, with excellent access to the Spinreel Dunes, the Pacific Ocean, the Elliot State Forest, and plentiful local lakes for recreation. The City of Lakeside is governed by a seven member city council, with seven full-time employees to include: Administration/Billing Department, Public Works Department, City Library, and Wastewater Department.
Pay & Benefits: Annual salary range is $48,000-$51,000, which is dependent on experience. Excellent city paid employee and dependent medical, dental, life and industrial insurance; PERS retirement; employee assistance plan; paid sick leave; vacation and holidays.
